I found by accident this great family owned bakery. Spencer Tang owner and Linette Soderwall are the chief bakers at 4305 Caterpillar Rd. #A-7, Redding CA home to From The Hearth Bakery.
From The Hearth Bakery began as a passion for wholesale sourdough bread. With it’s unique mild flavor, this Classic Sourdough recipe brings to Redding a European bread with Old World style and flair. Each loaf is hand-crafted and baked for that unique taste experience.
Some of their products include;
Garlic Basil Parmesan , Rosemary Olive Oil , Seeded Sourdough, my favorite Jalapeno Cheddar and of course the Classic Sourdough.
In addition to these items everyday, they offer Cranberry Scones, a scone of the day and coming soon they will be offering freshly baked Cinnamon Rolls daily.

History of Shasta County

In spring of 1872 the Pacific Railroad had finished the preliminary survey. In the town of Shasta all business owners were in hopes that the railroad would pass through Shasta. Shortly everyone would discover the railroad was set to pass through 5 miles below Shasta in what will be known as Redding. The town was named in honor of the first settler to Shasta County, Major Reading. In July of 1872 the city Superintendent was in town (town being Shasta) and had the proposed plat of the City of Redding. In August of 1872 roughly 200 hundred people attended the sale of lots in the new city. Seventeen total lots sold that day for a total of $1500.00 dollars. The highest lot sold for $160.00. Business in Shasta started relocating to the new City of Redding. This would mark the end of the growth in Shasta.

This weekend is host to a couple exciting activities. As July was filled with fire, heat and dry ground, Shasta County post poned the annual Freedom Festival in Redding Until October 18, 2008.
Stop by the local convention center in Redding for the largest fireworks display in the area, great food, music and enertainment.
If your down in Anderson stop by the Annual Return of the Salmon Festival. There are different activites through out Anderson including the Salmon bake on Saturday in the Anderson Wal Mart parking lot from 10 Am to 5 PM. Stop by the Coleman Fish hatchery in Anderson to enjoy the Return of the Salmon.
